Eighteen by fourteen inches of solid acacia, with raised edges an inch and a half deep and a handle cut into each end — the size where a serving tray stops being kitchenware and starts being furniture. The grain varies from piece to piece, so no two are identical.
Sturdy enough for daily use, whether that is morning coffee, a cheese board or a full spread of appetizers, and good enough to leave out on an ottoman or console when it is empty.
Hand wash and dry it straight away; never soak it or put it in the dishwasher. A little food-safe mineral oil now and then keeps the grain rich.

Care
Wood and bamboo: hand wash in warm water and dry straight away. Never leave it soaking or put it in the dishwasher. Rubbing in a little food-safe mineral oil every few months keeps the grain from drying out.
