Hand-carved from wild olive wood in five sizes, from a six-inch bowl for olives up to a fourteen-inch centerpiece. Olive wood grows slowly and twists as it grows, which is why the grain runs in dark loops rather than straight lines.
The rim is set with small panels of black-and-white batik cow-bone inlay, placed by hand by artisans in East Africa. Every bowl is cut and finished by hand, so the shape, the figuring and the inlay are different on each one. Yours will not look exactly like the photograph, and that is the point.
Hand wash and dry straight away; never soak it or put it in the dishwasher. Rub in a little food-safe mineral oil every few months to keep the grain rich.

Care
Wood and bamboo: hand wash in warm water and dry straight away. Never leave it soaking or put it in the dishwasher. Rubbing in a little food-safe mineral oil every few months keeps the grain from drying out.
